The lower interest rate and salary increases of civil servants were also cited as positive factors in the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC)'s survey.
The Thai Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rose from 73.1 points in December to 74.2 last month.
Other positive factors that contributed to this rising confidence included a positive outlook for this year's economic growth. However, rising oil prices and the cost of living were named as negative factors likely to affect confidence in coming months, said Thanavath Phonvichai, director of the UTCC's Economic and Forecasting Centre.
