District councillor Kitpon Cherdchukijkul also called on owners of buildings erected before 1992 as well as owners of billboards, theatres and malls to apply for building permits and submit their blueprints to the relevant district offices.
Kitpon, who leads the Bangkok Council’s special committee in charge of checking on buildings for safety, said his panel would consider the framework for the inspection of buildings, amend buildingcontrol regulations, set up a subcommittee to study related laws for flaws and possibly increase building tax. It will also look into hosting a public forum for establishment operators and building owners. The committee’s inspection results of buildings built before 1992 will be tabled along with recommendations to the Bangkok Council to pass more updated building regulations.
