Cabinet approves draft royal decree to extend current parliamentary session

The Cabinet Monday approved a draft royal decree to extend the current parliamentary session from April 18.

Deputy Government Spokesman Phakdee Harnhimathongkham said the decree does not specify the length of the extension.
The decree seeks to extend the current parliamentary session on ground that there are many bills pending deliberation by the House and Senate.
But critics said the government seeks to extend the current parliamentary session, which prohibits censure debate, so that the House can debate a reconciliation report and the Parliament can deliberate charter amendment bills in their second reading and third reading without convening an extraordinary session. If an extraordinary session is held, the opposition can hold a censure debate.
