Critics took Yingluck to task for an embarrassing mistake in referring to the “Malaysian president” instead of prime minister during her weekly speech on Saturday. Her other mistake was a picture that apparently shows her using a mobile phone during the royal funeral procession of the late Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda on Monday.
Suranand said any veteran television personality used the wrong wording from time to time, arguing Yingluck did not make a blunder nor did she misunderstand the position of the Malaysian leader.
“I believe the prime minister might have spoken too fast, hence it was a slip of the tongue,” he said.
He said Yingluck's team of aides would check the recorded speech before broadcasting in future.
He said he had no comments on the issue of mobile phone since he deemed it trivial.
Meanwhile Panthongtae, son of Yingluck’s brother, Thaksin, claimed on his Facebook page (Oak Panthongtae Shinawatra) that he had asked about the issue and was informed that the prime minister was turning off her mobile phone while waiting for the procession to start.
