Man in Bhum Jai Thai attempted bombing get 35 years

The Criminal Court on Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment a man who planned to bomb the Bhum Jai Thai Party headquarters but injured himself instead when the explosives accidentally detonated two years ago.

However, the jail term for Anek Singkunthot, who was blinded in the explosion was reduced to 35 years because he confessed.
The court ruled that Anek was hired by a group of suspects to fill a gas cylinder, fit it on a pushcart and park it at party headquarters. The explosive accidentally went off and injured Anek.
The blast also damaged some vehicles parked nearby as well as the party’s headquarters’ buildings.
Anek was also found guilty of possessing explosives without a permit.
Other suspects pleaded not guilty on the same charges as Anek. The court will rule separately on these cases.
