Pushcart bomb injures soldiers, civilians in South

A bomb went off on Takbai-Taba Road in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district Tuesday afternoon, injuring eight people, including a three-year-old boy, and wrecking a military jeep.

Police say the 7-kilogram bomb was in an iron box hidden in a two-wheel pushcart.
Sgt Major 3rd Class Uthen Kaewwichien and youngster Muhammad Paosa sustained serious injuries, while the six others – three soldiers and three civilians – got away with minor wounds. The victims are being treated at the Tak Bai Hospital.
Police investigators have found that two men on a motorcycle placed the bomb on the pushcart before fleeing. The bomb was detonated by radio control as the soldiers’ jeep was passing by. The blast also hit civilians who were riding past on two motorcycles.
