The injured man Khane Anantakul, 42, who sustained a gunshot under his left armpit and another gunshot on his shoulder, underwent a surgery and was stable at Krabi Hospital.
A leading demonstrator Boon Phongphetch, 72, told police that Khane was taking pictures of some 200 demonstrators from Khlong Khanan Samakkhee community seizing the plantation, when the plantation’s five security guards opened fire at the demonstrators with shotguns around 3-4 times. Some demonstrators counter-fired once or twice resulting to the gunfight, with stray bullets hitting Khane, and the security guards fled, Boon said. The demonstrators hence seized the plantation.
