Police officer fails to surrender

A police colonel suspected of being involved in stealing Bt4 million from a bank's armoured truck in Sing Buri province in March has failed to surrender as promised.

Pol Colonel Pijit Kromprasit, chief of Kamphaeng Phet’s Sai Ngam police station, called Kamphaeng Phet commissioner Pol Maj-General Prasert Kalarat on Tuesday saying he was willing to surrender to defend himself. The Kamphaeng Phet police station was crowded with reporters yesterday, waiting to cover Pijit’s surrender, but he did not show up.
On March 26, an armoured truck from Kasikorn Bank’s branch in Sing Buri’s In Buri district was robbed of Bt4 million in cash. One bank employee was injured.
After the robbery, arrest warrants were issued for Nakhon Sawan’s Pol Sergeant Narai Tipprichatorn and Pijit, who was also charged with masterminding the robbery.
Deputy National Police Chief Pol General Pansiri Prapawat said Sing Buri Court had approved arrest warrants for seven others, three of whom have been already apprehended.
