Court to imprison red shirt leader

Bangkok Criminal Court ruled on Monday to sentence Surachai SeaDan, leader of the RedSiam Group, to 5 years in prison for contravening the lese majeste law, Article 112 of the penal code.

However, his term of sentence was reduced to 2 years and 6 months, due to his confession on May 10.
He asked the court to deliver its verdict and pass judgement as soon as possible. He confirmed that the government is currently offering the compensation scheme, which is a chance for him to seek the royal pardon.
