DSI complaint filed against Abhisit and Suthep

Two Pheu Thai MPs on Thursday filed a complaint accusing two Democrat leaders, Abhisit Vejjajiva and Suthep Thuagsuban of obstructing the legislature in connection with unruly incients inside the House chamber last week.

As complainants, Warachai Hama and Prasit Chaisrisa said they wanted the Department of Special Investigation to look into the case as per Article 116 of the Criminal Code.
The provision prescribes for offence on interrupting the House session.
The two said the unruly incidents were meant to force the House to postpone the deliberation on the reconciliation bill.
In the first incident, a number of Democrats were seen surrounding and forcing Somsak Kiatsuranont off his speaker’s dais. For the second incident, the opposition lawmakers threw books and papers at Somsak after he abruptly called a vote to designate the bill as a priority.
DSI director general Tarit Pengdith said he would check relevant laws before deciding whether the case would fall under the DSI jurisdiction.
The DSI board is scheduled to convene its next meeting on June 27. Should the case warrant a special investigation, the board will review on whether to give the green light to the probe, Tarit said.
