Lamphun hospital director to be charged with buying 1.6 million cold pills for drug gang

The Department of Special Investigation will charge the director of Siriwej Lamphun Hospital for having abused the hospital name to buy 1.6 milliion pseudoephedrine pills allegedly to resell to methamphetamine making gangs.

DSI Director-General Tharit Pengdit said Assoc Prof Doctor Chote Nisung would face the charge for having allegedly faked purchase of the controlled medicine.
Tharit said Chote ordered the pseudoephedrine pills in the name of his hospital 37 times from Asian Pharmaceutical but the medicine had never been used for treating patients in his hospital.
As a result, the DSI believed Chote bought the drug to resell. Pseudoephedrine pills are believed to have been used by methamphetamine makers as main precursor chemicals to make the narcotics.
