Strict anticheating measures were put in place and mobile phone signalblocking devices employed during the testing, PACC chief Pol Colonel Dusadee Arayawut said while observing the recruitment process.
“We need new young blood to be part of our team,” he said.
He said observers had kept a close eye on those applicants who had graduated from university with high grade point averages and did not attend the competition in case they attempted to cheat.
About 13,176 applicants entered the competition. Of this number, 4,900 applied for an investigator position.
All applicants were strictly forbidden from bringing any personal belongings with them into the exam rooms. They were only allowed to bring their ID cards, application forms with photo ID, and a pencil. Moreover, they were asked to remove their shoes and put their application forms in their shoes. Anyone found to have copied the examination would be automatically disqualified.
PACC is a state agency that investigates alleged irregularities and corruption by officials. PACC’s board will set policy and direction for its secretarygeneral and staff. The investigators under the PACC will be tasked with collecting evidence and discovering facts when scandals occur.
If investigators find irregularities conducted by officials, they are to inform the agency employing the wrongdoer, leading to possible disciplinary measures.
During the past few months, the PACC has conducted many investigations relating to the abuse of power, corruption, and naturalresource exploitation by officials.
“Only the eligible applicants will be selected for this job,” Dusadee said.
