Referring to news that Thaksin was due to visit Tachilek, a border town in Myanmar’s Shan State across from Mae Sai in Chiang Rai, Noppadol Pattama told the press that this was true.
He said Thaksin planned to visit Myanmar in the second week of November. “During his visit to Myanmar this time, he plans to meet with Myanmar’s leaders and stay over there for two to three days.”
A source at Government House said Thaksin wanted to discuss progress on the Dawei project with Myanmar’s leaders as well as acknowledge obstacles that have delayed the project before the joint committees of two countries meet here on November 7 and 8.
