Wall St recovers

U.S. stocks recovered from its worst 1-day drop this year to end at near session highs on upbeat U.S. corporate earnings results and some better-than-expected economic data.

Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 157.58 points, or 1.08 per cent to close at 14,756.78,

S&P 500 gained 22.21 points, or 1.43 per cent to end at 1,574.57.

All key S&P sectors closed in up, aided by materials and consumer staples.

Nasdaq composite added 48.14 points, or 1.50 per cent at 3,264.63.
