Wage hike does not benefit all workers

Only 44.2 per cent of workers see improvement in their living condition following the hike in nationwide minimum wage to Bt300, according to Bangkok University poll.

Despite higher wage, 45.9 per cent of workers see no improvement while 9.9 per cent say their condition is worse.
The poll, commemorating May Day 2013, covered respondents in Bangkok and peripheral provinces. 75.1 per cent are provincial people. 80 per cent of them intend to find jobs at home, if the minimum wage is guaranteed.
About 65.4 per cent of the respondents said that the wage did not affect their work condition. Of those who said they were affected, 16.5 per cent said they earn less on overtime (OT) and 9.2 per cent said they have to work harder.
