The Supreme Court's recent decision to hand down a 12-year jail term to Muhammad-anwar Hayeetae, who had been acquitted by the Appeal Court, was made in accordance with the justice procedure and without discrimination, the spokesman for Internal Security

A total of 11 suspects faced legal action in relation to the beheading of Pattani Police Senior Sergeant-Major Sampan Onyala on July 5, 2005.
The primary court in July 2007 sentenced nine defendants to 12 years’ imprisonment each, and acquitted two others. The other three defendants were under 20 at the time, and were each given a reduced jail term of eight years.
The Appeal Court in June 2009 then acquitted two more defendants: Arnfan Bin-awae and Hayeetae.
However, the Supreme Court recently upheld the primary court’s ruling, a move that resulted in local people expressing their disagreement with the justice procedure.
