Students to get 24-hour study areas at Khon Kaen Uni

Khon Kaen University (KKU) is providing areas around the clock for students' to do self-learning development this academic year. It also plans to allow students to borrow tablets to help with their study.

The university’s central library has set aside some parts of its building for 24-hour learning areas. Also, libraries at the faculties of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering and Veterinary Medicine have installed areas for students to learn on their own without interruption, according to KKU’s academic resources centre director Assoc Prof Wanida Kanarkard.
Previously, KKU made available 24-hour learning areas only during the final exams period.
The central library will also allow students in September to borrow tablets to research for information and enhance their learning and access to other services of the library, she said.
Wanida said KKU would open Wifi for them to surf the Internet, and tables, chairs, drinking water, and computers to facilitate their learning. Security guards would also be on duty. She believed many students would come and enhance their learning at the centres.
Wanido said the central library’s self-development learning rooms would be places for them to meet, discuss, research and do other educational activities. Online bookings on the centre’s website are available free of charge. She wanted the library to be an area for meeting and learning from the study activities.
Wanida added KKU also opened a website to support graduate studies, which links databases from the Institute of Learning and Teaching Innovation, Graduate School and the central library for students, lecturers and others.
