Soldiers injured in Pattani bomb

Eight soldiers were injured in a bomb explosion on Monday morning in MaYor, a district in the deep southern province of Pattani.

One of the injured, Sgt Adipong Rakwong, was later transferred from MaYor hospital to Pattani Hospital.
Initial investigation showed that they were on a routine patrol to provide protection for teachers of Ban Rawor School. The front part of the vehicle was hit when explosives planted by insurgents under the road were triggered. The soldiers on foot who were near the vehicle were not injured.
Police said that had the explosion hit the middle part of the vehicle, there would certainly have been fatalities, similar to the attack in Yala’s Krongpinang district that killed eight soldiers.
