Banners in south accuse Thais of insincerity

TUESDAY, JULY 09, 2013

Banners accusing the Thai authorities of insincerity, have been hung in three southern border provinces, one day before the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The cloth banners were discovered early this morning along roads in many locations in the deep southern provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat. The banners, written in Melayu with the Rumi alphabet, carried antigovernment messages accusing the Thai authorities of insincerity and calling Thailand "the Siamese colonialists."
