Residents warned to be alert to runoff, landslides

Residents of nine districts in Uttaradit were warned on Thursday to watch out for possible forest runoff and landslides following five consecutive days of rain in the province.

Uttaradit Disaster Prevention and Mitigation chief Surachai Tatkiwon added that the local administrative bodies in the nine districts should be on alert for possible incidents.
Although rainfall was measured at only 50-60 millimetres, Surachai said that with the rain forecast to continue until July 14, residents should be on their guard so as to prevent disaster, and members of the public should closely follow the news.
Wat Mon Mai rescue workers, meanwhile, instructed their network of volunteers in all areas to prepare tools including ropes, emergency lights and flatbottom boats. The authorities are monitoring the level of water source and amount of rainfall around the clock.
