A source disclosed the list after assistant National Police commissioner Pol Lt-General Ruangsak Jarit-ake, who oversees traffic affairs, presided over a meeting yesterday to address serious traffic problems at 10 spots in Bangkok.
“We will have to enforce traffic laws strictly,” Ruangsak said. He believes stricter enforcement would ease jams and cut the number of accidents. He has instructed all police stations in the capital to prepare rapid-deployment units to respond nimbly to road accidents or vehicle breakdowns in order to restore normal traffic flow at the earliest.
He added that Traffic Police officers should also help facilitate traffic flow, and not just rely on the traffic-light system.
Ruangsak said Traffic Police officers’s performance will be reviewed in the next 30 days.
