Fans prepare for Thaksin's birthday

Supporters of ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra are preparing celebrations across the country for his 64th birthday on Friday.
“Some provinces may hold a merit-making ceremony and a prayer for Thaksin’s long life and prosperity. Some will stage exhibitions of his achievements,’’ deputy Pheu Thai Party spokesman Anusorn Iamsa-ard said yesterday.
The events, which have been held every year, would continue this year and vary according to the region.
Anusorn said he would join the festivities in Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom and Mukdahan. Pheu Thai member Singthong Buachum said last week he is organising activities at Kaew Fah Temple in Nonthaburi. Thaksin is expected to phone in at the event and members of his family would be invited to participate.
