STEM course for Asean school execs

Thailand will host a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Leadership workshop for executives from educational institutes.

The workshop will be held in Nakhon Pathom and run from September 10 to 15, with participants from all Asean nations.
Education Ministry deputy permanent secretary Siriporn Kijkuakul said the National Institute for Development of Teachers, Faculty Staff and Educational Personnel, the International Institute for Development of Educational Administrators, and the Bureau of International Co-operation would help organise the event.
The workshop will include a visit to the Mahidol Wittyanusorn School (Public Organisation), where executives from educational institutes in various countries will observe how the STEM classes are conducted at one of Thailand’s leading schools.
“In collaboration with various organisations, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (ISPT) has built the network of STEM executives from educational institutes in Asean,” ISPT chairman Montri Chulavatnatol said.
Kenan Institute Asia president Piyabutr Cholvijarn said the private sector could also contribute to the development of STEM education.
“For example, entrepreneurs may step in to offer career guidance for students. They may even work with the educational sector in laying down provincial STEM strategy,” he said.
