No one was injured but police were called to investigate the incident at the house at Moobaan Ruenrom in Taling Chan district of Bangkok.
Police removed the grenade as evidence and for further examination of possible fingerprints and other clues.
Pajun said the incident occurred at 3.09am.
He and his wife were resting when they heard the sound of a plant pot shattering in front of their home. At dawn, Pajun’s wife discovered the hand grenade while cleaning the area.
Pot deterred explosion
It appeared the device had hit the pot and broken it, said Pajun.
Talingchan district police identified the grenade as being Russian-made and believed the culprit used a small alley next to the residential compound to get close to the house.
Pajun said he didn’t want to make a big fuss or link the incident to the upcoming anti-government protest by the Pitak Siam group. However he will be joining the group’s protest on Sunday.
