Light turnout in Hanoi for gay pride parade

SUNDAY, AUGUST 04, 2013

Hanoi (dpa) - About 300 people cycled through the centre of Hanoi wearing matching T-shirts and waving rainbow flags as part of Vietnam's second gay pride parade.

The Viet Pride rally was part of events across the country, from
dance performances, film screenings and a book launch to celebrate
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.
"I love LGBT," one participant said, giving her name only as Ha.
"More people support LGBT rights now, I think next year it will be
bigger."
A draft revision to the Marriage and Family Law removes an article
banning same-sex marriage and includes provisions for same-sex
couples who live together.
