A doctor survived an attack on Monday in Yala's Raman district but suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and leg.

Sauding Salaereh, 51, was heading home around midnight on a motorcycle through Ban Po Maeng after working as a village security volunteer when he was ambushed by unknown gunmen hiding in a roadside bush.
The gunmen opened fire at him with rifles but he managed to flee. Two men on a motorcycle then emerged and shot at him and the doctor returned fire. A soldier came to his rescue, firing at the attackers who retreated and then escaped.
