A man was arrested yesterday for possessing 1.2 million methamphetamine tablets in Chiang Rai's Mae Sai district. He was identified as Worayut Yormsee, 36.

Worayut was nabbed at a police checkpoint where his pick-up truck was intercepted. The suspect confessed he was paid Bt300,000 to take the “yaba” pills to Nonthaburi, adding he had done such deliveries before.
Meanwhile, Rayong police were alerted to hundreds of marijuana bags abandoned on a roadside. Police found bags containing about 460 kilogram of marijuana – a haul worth more than Bt4.6 million.
Ban Chang Police Station deputy superintendent Lt-Colonel Songkran Sanhakorn believed drug traffickers might have abandoned the bags after seeing a police checkpoint.
