Partial accomplishment in reform effort

Former prime minister and Chat Thai Pattana Party chief adviser Banharn Silapa-archa said that the political reform effort has been 10 per cent completed.

After a talk with Deputy Prime Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana and PM's Office Minister Varathep Ratanakorn at Chat Thai Pattana café this afternoon, Banharn said he would extend more invitations.

Banharn is the government representative to invite stakeholders to join the reform council. The three sub-committees working on the reform will meet in October.

The economic and social sub-committees will convene on October 7 while the political sub-committee on October 9. However, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will not attend the meetings, according to Banharn.

Varathep urged the members of the sub-committees to express their ideas freely. If any ideas are sensible, they will be submitted to the political reform council. He promised that the council would stay even though there may be a political change.
