Relocation of Parliament may be delayed

The launch of the new Parliament complex may have to be postponed because the Yothin Burana School will not be able to relocate in time, Democrat MP Boonyod Sooktinthai said. He is also spokesman for the House committee on parliamentary affairs.

He said the school could not relocate in December as scheduled because its new facilities are not ready yet.
The previous government had selected an Army plot at the Kiak Kai intersection as a site for the new Parliament complex. Chai Chidchob, then-Parliament president signed a contract with the Army and presided over the ground breaking ceremony for construction.
The school has said it needs another Bt109 million for its new buildings in addition to the Bt1 billion the government has already approved.
