Chao Phraya may burst banks Wednesday, Thursday, BMA warns

Bangkok residents living along the Chao Phraya River were warned to brace themselves for possible floods when the Lop Buri-based Pasak Jolasid Dam's discharged water volume will peak Wednesday and Thursday.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Tuesday reckoned that with the dam releasing 700 cubic metres of water per second, the situation is worrying.
“The water level in Chao Phraya River around the Pak Klong Talad in Bangkok is about 1.97 metres above the mean sea level now,” Adisak Khantee said Tuesday in his capacity as the chief of the BMA's Drainage and Sewerage Department.
