Supreme Patriarch recovering well from surgery

His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, is recovering from surgery performed at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital on Monday night to treat a bacterial infection of the intestine.
Phra Sakaya Wisutthiwong, his secretary assistant, said on Tuesday that the 100-year-old revered monk was responding well to treatment and had no complications. His Holiness would remain in hospital under close surveillance to prevent infection to the surgical wound, he added.
Meanwhile, Their Majesties the King and the Queen sent a flower basket to His Holiness via Privy Councillor Ampol Senanarong with the wish for a speedy recovery, Members of the public also signed the getwell book at the hospital.
