Paradorn: ISA likely to be extended

A special Cabinet meeting Friday afternoon will likely extend the Internal Security Act (ISA) in three districts of Bangkok, National Security Council secretary-general Paradorn Pattanatabutr said before the meeting.

He said security agencies agree that the enforcement of ISA is essential because of three cases. First, the Students and People Network for Thailand Reform rally at the Urupong intersection is still going on. Second, Parliament is considering important bills. Third, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is scheduled to deliver its ruling in case of Preah Vihear territorial-dispute on November 11 and it may lead to more protests.
“I think all the cases are related to one another. So we need to extend the enforcement of ISA,” Paradorn said.
