Two killed in far South

A villager was killed and another wounded in a Monday night drive-by shooting in Rusoh district in Narathiwat.

Community policing volunteer Mahama-nasae Samae, 34, was killed while his sister-in-law Rachana Keuji sustained a gunshot to the shoulder, after two men on a motorbike opened fire at them and two other villagers in front of their homes. Police suspect the shootings were part of the ongoing unrest.
In a separate shooting on the same night in Rangae, local man Rusaran Waerong, 32, who was wanted for national security cases but surrendered to the authorities two to three months ago, was gunned down while attending prayers at a local mosque. The motive was suspected to be either an attempt by insurgents to prevent him from revealing secrets to Thai authorities or a personal conflict.
