Thousands more police will be deployed at the anti-government rallies amidst news reports that the protests would be escalated, said Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo, spokesman of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre.
It is possible that there would be smuggling of weapons into the rally sites with an intent to make chaos and confrontation, he said.
Police would also deployed to protect important locations such as the Government House, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Cambodia.
Piya said there are 7,900 protestors at the Democracy monument and the Rajdamnoen road, 2,500 at Makkawan Bridge and around 5,000 at Silom, Asoke, Ratchadaphisek, and Saphan Khwai.
The protestors are following the verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Preah Vihear but the protests would continue regardless of the result.
