DSI to crack down on 'disruptive' whistle protests

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has instructed its officials to promptly report on anti-government protesters who blow whistles, on grounds that the practice is disruptive to officials' work.

DSI director-general Tarit Pengdith said he would take legal action because unjustified causing of loud noise was a criminal offence as per Article 370 of the Penal Code.
If found guilty, an offender faces a fine of up to Bt100.
Whistle-blowing protesters might also face a charge of humiliating others in public. The offence is punishable by a jail term of no more than one month and a fine of up to Bt1,000.
