Suthep said he will assign a specific area for TV mobile trucks and the media to prevent any reoccurrence of scuffle between the protesters and the press. He was speaking after meeting with representatives of the Thai Journalists Association and Thai Broadcast Journalists Association at the Rajdamnoen rally site.
A coordinator will be assigned to liaise with the media so that when and if a problem occurs, it can be solved within the quickest possible time, he said.
Yesterday, the protesters separately surrounded two TV reporters working from their mobile trucks and criticised them of reporting the wrong number of the protesters. The two denied that they had given any number.
Suthep also asked reporters to identify themselves by wearing green armbands issued by the TJA. He was not happy with what happened to the media, he said, but explained that the rally’s security guards came from different parts, making it difficult to take care and control them. However he will talk to the security guards this afternoon to give them a better understanding about their duties.
