Seven private-sector organisations that have offered a mediating role in the political conflict on Monday pressed for negotiation to find solutions for the political turmoil that is beginning to damage the country’s basic economic foundation. They also urged the government to lift the state of emergency.
Surapong said he agreed and was ready to support the proposal but he was not sure if the People‘s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protesters would agree with it.
“If its leader Suthep [Thaugsuban] still stages the rallies I don’t know how to explain to and convince the investors,” the chief adviser to the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) said.
He said if the violence decreases in the future and the re-run of election can be held smoothly the government may lift some measures under the decree ordered by Civil Court.
