The body of Sirikorn Chairacha, 38, was found at about 8am in the driver’s seat of her Toyota Prius in front of the university’s sport complex.
Police identified Chansak Hiangko, 43, as the shooter.
Chansak said he had been married to the victim for 16 years and they had two children, a 12-year-old and an eight-year-old, but six months ago she tried to distance herself from him.
He said Sirikorn had asked to see their son at the university and as they spoke the child waited in his father’s car.
After arguing with Sirikorn, Chansak went to his car for a gun and then shot her. He then fled.
Chansak has also been charged with illegally carrying a gun with ammunition in public.
