CMPO to ask Cabinet to lift state of emergency next week

The Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) will decide to end the state of emergency in the capital and suburb next week, National Security Council (NSC) Secretary General Paradorn Pattanathabutr said Friday.

The cabinet meeting on next Tuesday will make the final decision to lift the emergency decree and will instead enforce the Internal Security Act (ISA) to maintain peace and order in the areas where the state of emergency ends, said Paradorn who is also the secretary of the CMPO.
The internal security act would be enforced also in the same areas where used to be under the state of emergency, he said. There are the entire Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Lat Lum Kaeo district of Pathum Thani and Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan, he said.
