Red Cross urges blood donation

The Thai Red Cross Society urgently needs more blood donation, due to severe shortage.

In a statement, it said that starting from May, blood donation fails to meet the target - 1,600-2,000 units of blood a day. Meanwhile, its blood bank now contains only 300 units, 10 per cent of the requirement.
Due to the shortage, it can distribute only 1,400 units a day to hospitals in Bangkok, against their requests for a total of 5,000 units. Meanwhile, only 300 units are distributed to 35 provincial hospitals, against their demand for 2,000 units.
