Star spiker Amporn Hyapha calls it a day
Thailand's middle-blocker Amporn Hyapha decided to call it quits from the national women's volleyball team on Friday.
Amporn, better known as Jack or Jackie, joined the Thailand's national squad in 1997. Since then, the 29-year-old from Nakhon Sawan has become the best known for her thundering come-from-behind attacks.
She was one of the major forces to help Thailand capture several major titles including the Asian Championship in 2009 and 2013, the AVC Cup in 2012 and six gold medals in the SEA Games from 2001 to 2011. Thousands of fan clubs expressed sadness on their facebook upon her retirement announcement.
