Junta promises to resume using normal laws after situation returns to normality

Chief of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) General Prayuth Chan-ocha said Friday night that when the situation returns to normal, the junta will resume use of normal laws.

Invocation of curfew is necessary and it is intended to restore peace and order in the country, he said. It may cause abruption of people's travelling, but people should understand its objectives. It is used to stop illegal activities such as weapon smuggling as well armed groups from instigating more violence. Since May 22, many members of the armed groups were arrested and large amount of weapons were confiscated, Prayuth said.
The NCPO knows about the inconvenience of people following the use of curfew so it has adjusted and exempted several groups of people such as medical personnel and those in night shifts, he said.
If the situation is improved, curfew hours will be shortened in some areas that have no incidents and in tourist-destination areas. Eventually, the NCPO is planning to lift the curfews. Because the curfew, people are now safe to travel to and from their homes after having been subjected to the risks of violence and problems from protests for the last six months.
