PTT assures transparency on gas deal with Qatar

PTT assured the transparency of its LNG trade deal with Qatar Liquefied Gas Co Ltd, which was considered a government-to-government contract.

In a statement, PTT President and CEO Pailin Chuchottaworn rebutted The Telegraph's report that Worawi Makudi, Thailand Football Association president, was involved in the deal, to support the appointment of Mohamned Bin Hammam, the Qatari Football Chief, as president of FIFA and Qatar's selection as the FIFA World Cup in 2022 host.
Pailin furthered that the gas deal was in line with Thailand’s Power Development Plan (PDP) and it was approved by the National Energy Policy Council and the Cabinet. The deal was signed in October 2012, two years after FIFA announced the host city for the 2022 event.
“PTT, as a national energy company, would like to emphasise our role in ensuring energy security to Thailand as well as responsibility to society, community and environment," Pailin said.
