Registration papers of totalled cars to become invalid immediately

The Land Transport Department will issue a regulation under which registration books for totalled vehicles will automatically lose their validity.
At a meeting Wednesday, relevant authorities agreed that they needed to step up measures to prevent registration books of totally wrecked cars from being used for stolen automobiles.
This misuse has been detected recently, prompting the department to suspend the registration papers of some 500 cars already.
Many people have been duped into buying stolen cars with these apparently legitimate official papers.
