NCPO chief reinstates Phatcharawat as police chief retroactively
National Council for Peace and Order Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha issued an order to repeal a prime minister's order that removed Pol Gen Phatcharawat Wongsuwan as the national police chief in 2009.
Prayuth reasoned in the order that the October 19 2009 dismissal order against Phatcharawat had to be repealed in accordance with the ruling of the Central Administrative Court. The court ruled that the dismissal order was unlawful.
The repealing of the order allowed Phatcharawat to retroactively retire as the national police chief and would be entitled to salaries retroactively.
