NCPO budgets $100,000 for World Soil Day

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) plans a series of local and overseas activities to mark the World Soil Day, which will be observed globally on December 5.

NCPO spokeswoman Patamaporn Rattanadilok Na Phuket said that in this year, a budget of US$100,000 is endorsed, as part of the 2015 fiscal budget.
The United Nations last December declared December 5 as the World Soil Day and 2015 as the International Year of Soils. The objective of this international observance is to promote and raise awareness of the importance of soils towards agriculture development, nutrition and food security at the national and international levels to address the challenges of continued world population growth.
