Govt needs time to resolve problems in deep south

The public should give Prayuth's government enough time to work in solving the violence in the deep south, PM's Office Minister Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana said on Monday.

The insurgent attacks in the south were continuing perhaps in response to the transition to the new government. “I believe we should give the government time so that it can carry out its work as planned and officials on site can also proceed with their work as assigned by the government,” said Suwaphan, who is also director of National Intelligence Agency.

The situation should improve, he said, adding that the peace talks have also advanced to a step and will move forwards. However, the situation would not get better immediately, he stressed.
