The group’s chairman Nukboon Akabutr yesterday revealed that he had asked the National Council for Peace and Order and Education Minister Admiral Narong Pipattanasai to launch an investigation into the projects.
According to Nukboon, the Distance Learning project involved a plan to procure TV sets for small Obec-run schools.
He said the project required the delivery of 32-inch screens, but only two manufacturers produced the product.
He said the standard price for screens through the project was as high as Bt10,000, yet the screens normally retail for between Bt4,300 and Bt7,200.
The other project, the Bt577-million CCTV Safe Zone School, is to be implemented in the three southernmost provinces.
However, Nukboon said when he looked into the details of the project, he had discovered that the specifications meant just one manufacturer was qualified to be its supplier.
