Bt103m worth of smuggled goods seized

THE CUSTOMS Department has seized prohibited goods such as counterfeit smart phones, including iPhone 6, and tax-evading luxury cars worth a total of Bt103 million, the department's adviser on customs control systems, Narin Kalayanamit, said Wednesday.

The confiscated goods include a used Bentley GTC car worth Bt7 million and eleven BMW motorcycles worth Bt6 million.
Narin said that after a tip-off, customs officials tailed three trucks from the Nakhon Phanom province customs checkpoint. These trucks were allegedly heading for a Chon Buri Industrial Estate. However, they changed their route and stopped to drop off goods in Bangkok’s Taling Chan area.
The officials then swooped in and seized the cargo, he said, adding that the goods had originally been declared as women’s clothing.
