Short films to focus on core values

TO MARK HIS Majesty the King's 87th birthday in December, the government is planning to make a series of 12 short films that focus on 12 core values highlighted since the coup. They will be screened at Major Cineplex theatres next month.

The films, lasting 10-15 minutes, will be directed by renowned filmmakers such as MC Chatrichalerm Yugala, Bunthit Thongdee and Pramote Saengsorn, and feature famous stars including Jessadaporn Pholdee, Ann Thongprasom and Theeradej Wongpuapan. They will be broadcast on television in December.
The films, and the corresponding 12 values, are based on wise words and principles from the monarch’s speeches and statements. They will be screened for free at all 72 Major Cineplex theatres.
Among the 12 values are upholding of the three main pillars (the nation, the religion, and the monarchy), plus honesty, sacrifice, and patience with a positive attitude for public interest, filial piety towards parents, guardians and teachers; preservation of Thai traditions and culture; morality, integrity, being considerate, generosity, and sharing. The others are applying His Majesty’s sufficiency economy philosophy, saving money for times of need, being moderate with surpluses for sharing or expansion of business while having good immunity, and keeping physical and mental strength, and not yielding to evil power or desires.
